 The high-pressure fuel pump of a diesel car is the 'heart' of the modern diesel engine's fuel injection system. Its core task is to pressurize the low-pressure diesel from the transfer pump to extremely high pressure (usually 1000-2500 bar, and even higher) and, according to the instructions from the engine ECU, deliver the high-pressure fuel accurately, timely, and quantitatively to the common rail, ultimately achieving atomized combustion through the injector.

Core functions and importance:

• Generating ultra-high pressure - establishing and maintaining stable high-pressure fuel reserves for the common rail system to ensure that injectors receive sufficient injection pressure under any operating conditions.
• Precise fuel metering - controlling the amount of fuel entering the high-pressure pump through an internal metering unit (MEUN) to achieve on-demand fuel distribution.
• Coordinated electronic control system - receiving signals from the engine ECU, adjusting fuel delivery volume and timing, making it a key actuator in the electronically controlled common rail system.
• Driving accessories - in some integrated designs, the shaft end of the high-pressure fuel pump is also used to drive vacuum pumps and other accessories.
