The automotive engine pulley is a core transmission component of the front wheel system of the engine. It transmits the crankshaft power to auxiliary systems such as the generator, water pump, air conditioning compressor, and power steering pump via a belt.

The working principle of the engine pulley is based on the friction drive mechanism:

• Power transmission: The rotation of the crankshaft drives the main pulley to rotate. The belt, due to the tension force, tightly adheres to the surface of the pulley groove, and the friction force causes the belt to rotate with the pulley.
• Torque output: The belt transmits power to the driven pulley (such as the generator, water pump), thereby achieving power transmission.
• Speed variation adjustment: Through the combination of pulleys with different diameters, speed transformation is realized. When the driving pulley has a small diameter and the driven pulley has a large diameter, it decelerates and increases torque; conversely, it accelerates and decreases torque.
• Vibration reduction and noise reduction: The vibration-damping pulley absorbs vibration energy through the elastic deformation of the rubber layer, reducing the transmission of torsional vibration to the accessory system.
