The installation and use of control arm bushings require adherence to specific standards and precautions to ensure proper functioning and vehicle safety:

• Preparation before installation: Prior to replacing control arm bushings, prepare the necessary tools (such as a press, hammer, jack, etc.) and new bushings. Position the vehicle on level, secure ground and raise it using a jack, ensuring it is stably supported. For front suspension, release the parking brake and remove the wheel to access the control arm.
• Removing Old Bushings: Locate the control arm bushing requiring replacement. Use tools (such as a hammer and punch) to tap or press the bushing out of the mounting holes in the control arm and body. Some bushings may be bolted in place; remove the bolts before extracting the bushing. Take care to protect surrounding components during removal to prevent damage.
• Cleaning and inspection: Clear any old rubber residue and debris from the control arm and body mounting holes to ensure smooth installation of the new bushing. Verify the new bushing matches the original in size and shape, confirming no deformation or damage. For hydraulic bushings, verify the oil chamber is intact and free from leaks.
• Installing New Bushings: Align the new control arm bushing with the mounting hole and press it into position using a press or hammer. Ensure the bushing is fully seated within the control arm and body holes without misalignment or looseness. For bushings requiring lubrication, apply a small amount of grease to the rubber surface prior to installation to reduce friction during fitting.
• Post-installation adjustment: After fitting the bushings, adjust relevant suspension parameters as specified in the vehicle maintenance manual. For instance, adjust the ball joint clearance or link length to ensure wheel alignment parameters (camber, toe, etc.) meet standards. Should hydraulic bushings be employed, specific pre-compression or venting procedures may be required to ensure proper functionality.
• Usage Precautions: During routine vehicle operation, periodically inspect the condition of control arm bushings. Should unusual noises, unstable steering, or abnormal tyre wear occur, promptly examine suspension bushings for wear or damage. After fitting new bushings, avoid overloading the vehicle or high-speed driving on rough surfaces to prevent accelerated wear. During the first drive after replacement, proceed at moderate speeds while monitoring the suspension for abnormal noises or vibrations; should these occur, stop immediately for inspection.
