Expansion Tank Hose is a small-diameter rubber or plastic hose that connects the Expansion Tank/Reservoir to the engine cooling system (typically the water inlet side of the water pump or the top of the radiator). It is used to perform the functions of overflow, reabsorption, and degassing of the coolant during thermal expansion and contraction.

Repair and Maintenance Methods:

1. Routine Inspection

• Every 10,000 km or during maintenance, visually inspect: cracks, bulges, and powder marks on the root of the joint and the middle section of the hose.
• Under cold engine conditions, squeeze the hose; it should quickly rebound. If it is hard or brittle, replacement is required.

2. Emergency Handling

• For small cracks: wrap with 3 layers of self-fusing silicone tape and secure with a stainless steel clamp, then drive at low speed to the repair shop.

3. Official Replacement (General Steps)

• Cold engine → Depressurize → Recover coolant.
• Use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the quick-connect lock tab, remove the old hose.
• Compare the new hose length and bends; use accompanying clamps if necessary.
• Moisten the seal ring, insert the connector until it reaches the limit, then press down the lock tab.
• Vacuum fill with coolant → Bleed air → Road test → Recheck coolant level and temperature.
