The headlight washer motor is a critical component of the vehicle's headlight cleaning system, primarily designed to clean the headlight surfaces whilst the vehicle is in motion, thereby ensuring optimal illumination performance.

Common Faults:

1. Motor operates but no liquid is sprayed
Detergent line completely blocked: Spray nozzle or pipework thoroughly obstructed by foreign objects, or detergent frozen solid in winter due to lack of antifreeze additive, causing pipes and nozzles to freeze solid.
Pump running dry: No liquid in detergent tank, or suction filter clogged, resulting in motor running but unable to draw liquid.
 

2. Abnormal Motor Noise
Mechanical Jam Noise: Motor rotor obstructed by foreign objects, or severe bearing wear/insufficient lubrication causing a muffled ‘humming’ or grinding ‘squeaking’ sound during operation.
Electrical fault noise: Unstable motor supply voltage or partial winding short circuit causes irregular noises during operation.
 

3. Motor runs continuously without stopping
Control switch failure: Headlight washer function control button or sensor is jammed, preventing the motor power supply signal from being cut off.
Relay sticking: The relay contacts controlling the motor have fused together. Even after power is disconnected, they remain in a conductive state, causing the motor to continue operating.
